Jerry was a man of many talents and accomplishments. He was also very generous with his time. When we had a major problem at an UCD ORU laboratory, he came to our rescue by standardizing tests and organizing all procedures so that results were reliable and our animals healthier. While he gained little from this major effort, he improved the quality of research by many investigators.
More generally, when I think of Jerry I am reminded that difficulties are to be overcome and life enjoyed. I was fortunate to have him as a colleague and friend.
